Filled feeders this morning. I got a melodious greeting from all the feathered friends that come into the feeders. The Lessor Goldfinches are not shy at all. They will almost land on the feeders before I get them hung back up. The Blacked Capped Chickadee and 1 Mountain Chickadee (still here) are not afraid either. I have had one accidentally land on my head for a fleeting moment. I have not started filling hummingbird feeders every day now – 2 1/2 quarts a day. Think of that much sugar water and how many of those little varmints it take to devour that in one day. At least my feeders stay clean.
Yesterday evening I looked up in the sky and saw several dozen of tree swallows sailing back and forth feeding on the local flying insects. I am glad they are back. There are usually 2 pair that nest here so they will join the nest-box battle soon.
Well Comet the greyhound, he was a rescue dog, and I are headed to the Crater Comet Spring Break Tournament to watch a little baseball (might see a bird or two also:)

I’ve got a bird family in an old bird house I have hanging in the Mulberry!!!!! It’s a first!
